AWOL.
THIRD YEAR GRAPHIC DESIGN BA(HONS)
AWOL is an exhibition showing the contrast between the positive and negative events of 1967 to 1969, in the build-up to Woodstock festival. Starting with a walk through the negative events of the late 1960s, AWOL aims to reflect how the festival provided an escape from all the loss and tragedy in this period. After experiencing the euphoria felt at the festival, viewers are guided back through a reflection of the period, now through a new perspective the late 1960s can be viewed in a more positive light.

A WORLD OF LOSS
Glass cabinets between headers showcasing artefacts from event. The corridor is dark and narrow, making the space feel tight and uncomfortable.
A WEEKEND OF LOVE
Escaping from a dark tight room into a large open space, the viewer should feel freed, replicating the freedom felt by those who attended the festival. Songs from Woodstock festival playing on a loop along with a continual loop of Woodstock videos projected onto the walls.
A WORLD OF LOVE
A walk back through the events of the late 1960’s, with a new positive outlook on the events that took place. This corridor is much more spacious and brighter than the first.
